Your Big Ride 2017 – A Big Success!

A huge THANK YOU to the riders, contributors, sponsors and volunteers that helped make Your Big Ride 2017 a BIG success!

A few numbers:

  • 55 registered riders
  • 10 volunteers
  • Over 10,000km ridden
  • Over 2,000km driven by volunteers
  • $22,321 raised for the Minds in Motion program through Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington

We had perhaps the best riding weather of the year and it was an awesome sight in Bayfield to see over 50 members of our club together enjoying an awesome lunch, sponsored by our friends at Freshii Northfield and Weber, and organized by our amazing group of volunteers.

Thanks for Lauren Daniells there are lots of photos to help us remember the day!

If you have a story from the day or about why you were riding please don’t hesitate to post it as a comment or add it as a forum entry.

It was an amazing day… even if I couldn’t ride with everyone… I had a great time chauffeuring and supporting you in the ride. I know from experience that epic rides such as these, require a LOT of work behind the scenes. So, I would like to thank our board for doing an amazing job in putting this ride together.
We all have a part to play in creating successful events, from the riders, the organizers, and definitely the sponsors -- Freshii Northfield served up an amazing meal in Bayfield, one of the best I’ve had at a fund-raising ride -- and finally all the volunteers. Together we made this happen.
I was doing this ride in memory of my uncle, who was taken WELL before his time, by the ravages of this disease. From a vibrant, energetic, grandfather… to a frail and unsteady old man in the span of a couple years, it was a heart wrenching loss for the family and for all of us who knew him. I hope what we have raised will help in the treatment of other’s who are dealing with Alzheimer’s. Maybe someday we can bid farewell to this tragic disease.
I look forward to next year’s big ride supporting everyone in their rides… whether that is on the seat of a bike, or on the seat of a vehicle. I will be there!
    Ride on!
