Share the Road’s New Initiative with Young Drivers and Cyclists
Share the Road, in partnership with law enforcement, students and educators is working with high schools in Ontario to help young drivers and young cyclists “Ride and Drive with Care” by showing them how to interact with each other on the road. Students will then sign a pledge to Drive with Care, respecting vulnerable road users (cyclists, pedestrians). The pledge to Ride With Care signifies a commitment to obeying the rules of the road, being visible and predictable. Students are asked as a school community to commit to these positive behaviours.
An online tracking system will encourage students to try riding their bike to school this spring for the chance to win prizes. Share the Road Cycling Coalition and CAA are working in partnership with funding from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to create a new generation of road users that ‘share the road’
Do you know a high school that might be interested in delivering the Ride and Drive with Care Program, check out the attached invitation? Would you like to set a good example? Sign the pledge and learn more here.
